WHO HE IS

An entrepreneur betting on people

Marcelo Alquezar is a lawyer from UNMDP, with an MBA from IEB (Instituto de Estudios Bursátiles), affiliated with the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. In July 1992 he founded GSA BPO as an extrajudicial collections agency, at a time when outsourcing that service was a novelty in Argentina. Three and a half decades later, GSA is the leading outsourcing company in Buenos Aires province, operating across Argentina, Uruguay, and the U.S. Hispanic market.

Beyond GSA, he is co-founder and past president of ASARCOB (Argentine Association of Extrajudicial Collections Companies) and LATINCOB (Latin American Collections Association), where he led industry representation across the region.

Since 2012 he has been a sponsor and international volunteer at Escuela Caminante, a Lima-based NGO that provides quality education to neighborhood children and supports their families through workshops, scholarships, and health programs.

Milestones

From a local venture in Mar del Plata to a regional BPO reference. A timeline of the decisions that made the difference.

  1. Co-founding of the ACG law firm

    Marcelo Alquezar co-founds the law firm specialized in extrajudicial and judicial collections for financial institutions. The firm would become the direct precursor to the business model that later gave rise to GSA.

  2. GSA is founded

    In July 1992, Marcelo Alquezar founds GSA as an extrajudicial collections agency, at a time when outsourcing that service was a novelty in the Argentine market. The first client was Citibank, marking the start of a more than three-decade journey.

  3. Relaunch and Buenos Aires offices

    GSA relaunches with new facilities and opens its first commercial offices in Buenos Aires, reinforcing its national presence while keeping Mar del Plata as the operating headquarters.

  4. CMS Group co-founding

    Marcelo was co-founder and vice president of CMS Credit Management Solutions, a company specialized in organizing conferences, events, and training programs for the Credit & Collections industry across Latin America. He led the expansion and development of markets in Peru, Ecuador, Venezuela, Panama, and the United States, while also participating as an international speaker focused on leadership and team management. Throughout his career at CMS, he led more than 40 international conferences and helped position the company as a leading regional reference within the industry.

  5. Surviving the 2001 crisis

    Through Argentina’s worst economic crisis, GSA weathers the storm thanks to early service diversification, avoiding exclusive dependence on collections and beginning to develop customer-service and contact-center offerings.

  6. LATINCOB co-founding

    In August 2006 Marcelo co-founds LATINCOB, the Latin American Collections Association, which brings together chambers from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico and Peru. He serves as president from 2013 to 2015.

  7. ASARCOB co-founding

    In January 2008 Marcelo co-founds ASARCOB, the Argentine Association of Extrajudicial Collections and Legal Services Companies. He serves as president from 2014 to 2016, leading dialogue between industry chambers, banks and public bodies to professionalize the sector.

  8. Begins supporting Escuela Caminante (Lima)

    Marcelo joins Escuela Caminante as founding sponsor and international volunteer — a Lima-based NGO that provides quality education to more than 150 at-risk children every year and has supported over a thousand families through workshops, scholarships and health programs.

  9. Pandemic adaptation in 72 hours

    Faced with the pandemic, GSA BPO migrates its entire operation to remote work in 72 hours, ensuring uninterrupted service continuity for its clients.

  10. GSA BPO 30th anniversary

    GSA BPO celebrates its first 30 years, consolidated as the leading outsourcing company in Buenos Aires province with more than 400 team members and national reach.

  11. New offices and UCIP recognition

    GSA BPO inaugurates its new offices on Av. Juan B. Justo 4598, Mar del Plata, designed with employee wellbeing in mind. UCIP recognizes the company for its track record and commitment to organizational quality.

  12. ISO 9001:2015 and Newsweek coverage

    GSA BPO recertifies its quality management system under ISO 9001:2015 with TÜV Rheinland, covering BPO, telemarketing, collections, and customer service. The same year, Marcelo’s career and GSA’s reinvention philosophy are featured by Newsweek internationally.
